Understand It Clearly

“The anger of the LORD will not turn back Until He has executed and performed the thoughts of His heart. In the latter days you will understand it perfectly.”

Jeremiah 23:20

What is it that we are meant to understand perfectly? What are the thoughts of God’s heart in regards to His “fierce anger”? “The fierce anger of the LORD will not return until He has done it, And until He has performed the intents of His heart. In the latter days you will consider it.” Jeremiah 30:24

God’s message to Jeremiah was clear: He wants us to understand His judgments so we can know His ways and cooperate with Him. Jeremiah had to prophesy judgment, but he was also commanded to intercede for the fulfillment of God’s promises. In other words, the same Lord who would bring their judgment would bring their salvation. Truth is, the dispersion of Israel, in Jeremiah’s day, resulted from God’s judgements. However, His judgments set the stage for HIS salvation.

The message is clear today. God’s judgments will come and have their full affect, but He will save a remnant during His judgments.

My prayer for us today is that we look to understand clearly God’s promises: “But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,” says the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:3-4
